Bentley Celebrates 80 Years of Craftsmanship in Crewe With a Continental GTC in Supernova Purple Ombre

Today, Crewe brings together design, engineering, manufacturing and commercial operations on one campus, often referred to internally as the Dream Factory.

Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, spoke about the milestone by crediting the people of Crewe for the brand’s success across generations, pairing craftsmanship and innovation to build some of the world’s most sought-after cars. He also pointed to the site’s ongoing transformation, with new facilities and technologies being added while the same skills and expertise that built the first Bentleys continue to guide production today.

A Supernova Purple Ombre One-Off, Built by Mulliner

To mark the anniversary, Bentley turned to Mulliner, its personal commissioning division, to create a single, unrepeatable Continental GTC. The exterior paint transitions gradually from Supernova Purple to Supernova Purple Dark, developed specifically for this car by Bentley’s Paint Shop and CMF/Bespoke teams. A bespoke ‘80’ graphic runs along the side of the car with a reverse ombré effect, echoing the fade of the main paint finish.

The commemorative theme carries through to the cabin, where embroidered ‘80’ headrests and a bespoke airbrushed fascia graphic depict the Design Studio building at Crewe. Contrasting wheel finishes round out the exterior, making the car a rolling tribute to the past eight decades of production.

The line-up began with EXP3, the first Bentley ever delivered to a customer, and closed with a 2025 Flying Spur Speed. Between those two cars sat examples from the W.O. Bentley era, the Derby years, and decades of Crewe-built models, including Blowers and a Bentayga.

Owners travelled from around the world to reunite their cars with the place where they were handcrafted, turning the event into a shared celebration of more than a century of Bentley heritage layered on top of 80 years specifically in Crewe.

Looking Ahead From the Dream Factory

Even while celebrating its past, Crewe is preparing for its next chapter. The site recently opened a new Paint Shop, officially inaugurated by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, and work is underway to convert the oldest building on the campus into an assembly facility for Bentley’s first electric car, due to arrive in September.
