Bentley Partners with Surf Brand to Craft One-of-a-Kind Wooden Surfboard

Bentley Motors—renowned for over a century of luxury automotive craftsmanship—is venturing beyond the road in an unexpected collaboration with Marnie Rays and Otter Surfboards. Together, they’ve created a truly unique surfboard, handcrafted from rare Koa wood, sourced from Hawaii and selected directly from Bentley’s woodshop in Crewe. The result is a striking fusion of refined automotive design and ocean-inspired artistry.

A Surfboard Like No Other

This exclusive creation is the result of a close collaboration between Lindsey Holland, founder of Marnie Rays, James Otter of Otter Surfboards, and Bentley’s master craftspeople. The Koa wood used—typically reserved for Bentley’s bespoke vehicle interiors—was carefully prepared in Crewe, the birthplace of the brand’s most iconic models. The choice of Koa is deeply symbolic, honouring Hawaii’s rich tradition of handcrafted surfboards.

From Crewe to Cornwall’s Waves

Once shaped and prepped in Bentley’s legendary workshop, the Koa wood was shipped to James Otter’s surfboard studio in Cornwall, where it was meticulously hand-sculpted using traditional techniques. The finished board is both a functional surfboard and a collector’s item, proudly bearing the emblems of all three collaborators.

The journey of the board has been documented in a beautifully shot short film, tracing the wood’s transformation from workshop to wave. Narrated poetically by Lindsey Holland, the film is a tribute to adventure, nature, and craftsmanship, with the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase making a graceful appearance throughout as a symbol of elegant exploration.

A Project with Purpose

The unveiling took place at the exclusive Marnie Rays VIP surf retreat in Cornwall, bringing together surf enthusiasts and admirers of craftsmanship in a relaxed, coastal setting. But this project goes well beyond bespoke design—the surfboard will be auctioned off to support Surfability UK, a charity that offers inclusive surfing experiences for people living with disabilities, injuries, or learning differences.

More Than a Surfboard—A Shared Vision

With this initiative, Bentley shows that luxury can take on unexpected forms while staying true to its core values of craftsmanship, innovation, and social responsibility. By teaming up with Marnie Rays and Otter Surfboards, Bentley celebrates not just the beauty of artisanal work, but also the importance of inclusivity and environmental respect.

This collaboration is proof that tradition and innovation can coexist, and that luxury—when thoughtfully executed—can contribute to a more inclusive and inspired world.
