Bentley vehicles are at the pinnacle of luxury and they are also some of the safest vehicles on the road due to their solid construction and the plethora of advanced safety features that are included in each model.
The City Safeguard with Pedestrian warning
This technology is part of the standard City Specification in the Bentayga and standard in other models in the Bentley range. The City Safeguard monitors the road ahead to detect any risk of collision with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, or any other kind of obstacle. Once activated, this system warns the driver and applies the brakes to stop the vehicle before the collision. In order to protect the driver and passenger, this system also activates the seat-belt tensioners to keep the occupants firmly in their seats in case the collision cannot be avoided.
The traffic sign recognition
Bentley vehicles are equipped with a system that can detect and recognize a number of traffic signs, including speed limit signs. Once the vehicle drives past a sign, the system’s camera decodes the image and displays the appropriate information on the instrument panel, which makes it possible to know the current speed limit at any time by simply glancing down at the instruments. This helps prevent inadvertent speeding when the driver hasn’t noticed a limit change.
The Touring Specification
Available on certain Bentley models, the Touring Specification adds a number of advanced features engineered to make long-distance driving safer, such as a heads-up display, adaptive cruise control, and a night vision camera system. This last feature uses infrared lighting to allow a clearer view of the road ahead, beyond the reach of the headlamps. Once in use, the special camera displays its image directly in the instrument cluster, which means the driver can easily keep an eye outside and on the monitor. This is particularly useful when driving on dark country roads since infrared technology is effective at picking up heat signatures in the environment, which can spot animals invisible to the naked eye and thus prevent a collision with a deer or a moose.
